Southern Plains Resources is a non-operating participant in oil and gas exploration and development. They acquire acreage in prospective natural resource plays across the Rocky Mountain region and Williston Basin in the United States, with a primary focus on crude oil.

Nolasoft worked with Red Dot Design in development of the new site for Southern Plains Resources.  

Corporate Décor + More is a full service interior design firm that has been creating comfortable, exceptional spaces, with a contemporary flair, since 2001. Their portfolio ranges from residential to corporate to healthcare facilities and includes both new construction and remodel projects.

Nolasoft worked with Red Dot Design in development of the new site for Corporate Décor + More.  

We are NOT looking for someone who can translate a design into working code.  It’s more important that you be good at DESIGNING a page layout using tools like Photoshop, that we can then take a build the functioning site from.

Creativity is a must, and we like working with people who both are willing to forge their own path in a site design, but who are also willing to step back and make changes to satisfy client and coding needs.

What’s new about the in-app system?  I’m glad you asked! 

The NEW AngryApps In-App System!

In our previous AngryApps – AngryDog and AngryCat – the apps were offered for free with ads, included a couple of animals for free, and by upgrading within the app for $0.99 (cheap!), the ads were removed and the rest of the animals for the app were the available.

With the new app system, we’ve taken this a few steps further!

1. All of the animals included with a given app are now available for free.  So if you get AngryCat, you get all of the cats; if you get AngryDog, you get all of the dogs for free, etc.
2. We are now able to offer new animals via download from within the app.  This allows us to keep the size of the app small while allowing us to offer a greater range of animals as well as add new animals without requiring an app store update!
3. To offset the bandwidth cost of the downloaded animals, we now have some interstitial ads in the free apps.  When you switch from one animal to another, there is a 1:4 chance of seeing an ad.  When you download an animal, an ad is shown.  If you upgrade, all ads are removed, even the download ads.
4. In addition to removing the ads, upgraded users now get ALL ANIMALS from ALL AngryApps!  This means that if you have AngryCat and upgrade to AngryCat Plus, you not only get all of the AngryCats, but also all of the AngryDogs, AngrWild animals, AngrFarm animals, and animals from other upcoming apps.  And when we add more animals to the other apps, you will get them too!

We think this new system is a great value for our app users.  We have a few more apps in approval with Apple for hopeful release before Christmas!  Stay tuned!

Red Dot is a Des Moines-based advertising and design agency working with several regional clients.  This fall they celebrated their 10th anniversary in business.  In their own words:

At Red Dot, we believe smart communication strategies and visually arresting creative can make a remarkable difference to any client’s bottom-line. As an independent advertising and design studio bustling with big ideas, we stake our livelihood on it every day.

We’ve been fans of Red Dot’s work for years and have collaborated with them on several sites, so we were happy to help them bring their great new site design to life!

In 2010, nearly 3,000 youth in Polk County had no place to call home. Many couldn’t go to school, keep warm, or get enough to eat. All needed help. Iowa Homeless Youth Centers has worked with many of these youth to get a toehold on a new life.

Reggie Kelsey, the namesake of the event, was a young man who didn’t get these opportunities. He aged out of the foster care system and three months later with no resources to turn to, was found dead in the Des Moines river. The funds raised from Reggie’s Sleepout are used for programs which help these homeless youth transition to a life as a successful and productive member of their community. For the past six years, our community has reached out to remember Reggie with a fundraising event, Reggie’s Sleepout.

In 2009, five Whyld Girls High School mentors attended the National Service Learning Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN. During this experience, they talked about an important issue taking place in their neighborhood they wanted to change, something they knew they had to do something about: teen pregnancy.  They saw peers making risky choices in their relationships with their bodies as well as 13-17 year old girls getting pregnant. They began to personally think about what choices they would need to make to have a successful future.

As a response to this concern, the Whyld Girls and Backyard Boyz High School mentors have launched their own teen pregnancy prevention campaign: Future. The Alternative F Word. It’s about wanting a successful future… and that starts with making a plan that includes healthy choices for their bodies and minds that effect their success in school and their future dreams. The Whyld Girls and Backyard Boyz are gender specific after-school programs of Children and Family Urban Ministries. These programs provide safe and supportive environments for middle and high school youth to help them achieve and maintain their academic and personal success. There are two pieces of data that are transmitted from our apps:

• The Unique Device ID (UDID): this is a random string of letters and numbers unique to each iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.  An example UDID is ecdcd81cf16d1f59b5d66791dba0ee5c627a8a8e.  There is no personally identifiable information in this UDID.
• The IP address of the device: this is the address on the Internet currently assigned to the device.  An example IP address is 74.125.95.106.  There is no personally identifiable information in the IP address.  Every use of the Internet transmits your IP address, whether on your home computer or your mobile device – it’s a fundamental of how the Internet works.

This data is used for advertising purposes on our free ad-supported apps and for us to track usage counts on individual apps.  Without this data, we could not provide free ad-support apps.

Here are some things we DO NOT transmit without your permission:

• We DO NOT transmit your location.
• We DO NOT transmit your email address or contact info.
• We DO NOT transmit any demographic info about you  (age, gender, race, etc).
• We DO NOT transmit any personal data from your device.
• We DO NOT sell your data to third-party companies.

AngryDog is built on the same platform as AngryCat 2.0, and it has all of the same features…just with dogs.  That means you get multiple dogs, animations, sounds and more.

Right now there are two dogs included:  a fire chihuahua and an electric chihuahua.  More dog breeds will be coming soon, so stay tuned.

AngryDog is available for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch

AngryCat 2.0 adds several new features to the app, including:

• Multiple cats to choose from
• Updated graphics
• Animations
• A new menu system
• Several bug fixes
• Smaller app file size while adding more content

With AngryCat 2.0, the cats now get angry along different themes.  Included currently are:

• Devil Cat (an update on the original AngryCat)
• Electric Cat
• Mutant Cat
• Dragon Cat (Plus exclusive)

We are planning on releasing an update approximately every week or so for the next several weeks including other cats, both for free and Plus users.  We have already submitted 2.01 to Apple for review adding a new Plus exclusive Alien Cat!
